Recipe : Oven Swiss steak


Ingredients for Oven Swiss steak
1 1/2lb.Round steak, 3/4 inch thick
1tsp.Salt
1/2c.Chopped celery
2Tbsp.Chopped onion
1/4c.Shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
1/4c.Flour
1 Can stewed tomatoes (16oz.)
1/2c.Chopped carrots
1/2tsp.Worcestershire sauce

Preparation :

Cut meat into four portions. Mix flour and salt, pound into meat. Set aside remaining flour. Brown meat in small amount of oil. Place meat in shallow baking dish. Blend remaining flour with drippings in skillet. Add remaining ingredients, except for cheese. Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture boils. Pour over meat, cover and bake at 350F for two hours. Then, top with cheese, return to oven for a few minutes.
